Chicory is a somewhat woody, perennial herbaceous plant usually with bright blue flowers, rarely white or pink. Various varieties are cultivated for salad leaves, chicons (blanched buds), or for roots which are baked, ground, and used as a coffee substitute and additive. It is also grown as a forage crop for livestock. It lives as a wild plant on roadsides in its native Europe, and in North America and Australia, where it has become naturalized. I give it four instead of five stars however because this year I had two packages that never germinated with multiple attempts. My eggplant and assorted lettuce mix.... I had a zero percent germination rate with both of these both indoors and out. However I have purchased over 60 seed packets from them and this is definitely an outlier. Overall quality excellent."
